Larry Green was born into a large, loving family in the small town of Ferriday, Louisiana. It was clear from an early age that music would play a central role in the life of this bright, energetic young man. His mother, the late Mrs. Lula Webb Anderson recognized her son's musical gift and wanted to give him piano lessons. However, she could not afford to provide them as a single mom working as a nurse's aid. Larry, just as many R&B singers growing up in the 60's cut his musical teeth in the church. It was at the St Mark Baptist Church of Clayton, La that Larry developed his voice and his spiritual grounding. Many a Sunday morning found him belting out a soul-stirring gospel tune as the church rocked to the rhythm of Sunday shoes striking the hardwood floor. For all occasions from church programs to school talent shows this young ham was always ready to"step to the mike.About Larry Green
